lunch at Cantina 1511

{ Crab-Jicama Salpicon on Guacamole}

matt and i have taking advantage of living in such a "foodie" neighborhood lately now that the weather is cooling down here in North Carolina.  we have a bunch of really good restaurants in walking distance, and now that we're trying to focus on a healthier lifestyle, we want to force ourselves to walk to get our food when we want to go out to eat *wink*.

Cantina 1511 is a super-popular Dilworth neighborhood restaurant focusing on authentic Mexican-fare.  the couple times i went i was disappointed because it is always so crazy-packed with yuppies and the food i ordered wasn't what i expected.  this time though i was sooo satisfied, yum!

we were dying to try this ceviche-like dip featuring lump crap and crisp jicama on top of guacamole.  delicious!

must have: denim

i know...i've been shopping a lot lately.  i'm supposed to be saving for Vegas!  *whoopz*  i've been dying for new jeans.  wanting to try Anthro's Pilcro brand.  i didn't love them when they first came out when i still worked there, but it looks like they're upping the ante a bit style-wise.  this "pilcro stet slim ankle distressed" style is perfect for me.  i love them soft and faded.  distressed, but not ripped to shreds.  and i love an ankle length since i LIVE in ankle boots for fall.  can't wait for these to arrive and try them.

sequins for Vegas

i normally don't do over-the-top sequins or glitz when i dress up, but something about "Vegas" makes me wanna dress up like a disco ball!  so these sequined, glitzy numbers keep grabbing my attention.  picked up this sassy gold number from ASOS.  for Vegas duh!

the good life.

i've been working non-stop for about a month now.  it's a good and bad thing.  i'm tired a lot, but i love being busy.  here are 5 things i've done to treat myself and keep my sanity while working like crazy:

1.  breaks with the Kindle.  treated myself to the new Kindle Fire, and i must say that it is totally worth it!  having a super-convenient e-reader makes your reading easily transportable.  i keep mine in this soft Allisa Jacobs herringbone cover and do some quick reading on my 1 hour lunch breaks.  also been spending 30 minutes mall-walking to prevent too much shopping and snacking on my lunch hour.

2.  having a weekly treat.  i've been dieting (to avoid working out LOL) for weeks now and calorie-counting like crazy for my countdown til my October wedding.  sometimes you have to allow yourself a junk-food treat!  so once a week or so i let myself have a kids meal with a diet coke or a buttery pretzel on my lunch break.  still counts under 400 calories if you get a diet coke!

3.  Getting comfy!  i've been buying and wearing super-soft jerseys and broken-in sweatshirt dresses on the daily.  accessorize easily with flats or sandals and a belt or necklace.  sweatshirt dresses from madewell, striped jersey dresses by Rachel Pally, and soft chambray shirts with denim shorts.

4.  lots of naps.  stop fighting them, just curl up on the couch and nap if your body feels like it.  sometimes you just need one!

5.  a beauty-spa day.  taking your lunch break to get your nails done.  we decided to make it a once a month ritual.  with diet coke and catching up on gossip magazines.  love being a girl!

love: Jeffrey Campbell

 i am crazy about Jeffrey Campbell heels!  i own almost 10 pairs already... his shoes are always sexy, edgy, young, but still sophisticated.  he specializes in statement shoes that are still comfortable.  i was IN LOVE with these burke city heels for free people when i saw them.  ordered them today, can't wait to get them!

love: chambray

{Pindot Chambray Shirt, Anthropologie $88}

 i can't wait to get this soft, broken in chambray shirt from Anthro.  it is perfectly faded and there are feminine little pindots all over.  i love finding something that you know will be something you will want to wear EVERY day.

 denim has a way of softening your look as well, like how it is paired here with a high-waisted tulip skirt.

fave in the making

i have been loving simple chic dresses in jersey or sweatshirt materials like this one i just ordered from MADEWELL.  in an easy heathered gray, you can outfit this any way you want.

for summer, just toss it on with a straw hat and a stretchy belt or sandals and a fun necklace.

 wear it year-round with tights and booties and a thick scarf when it starts getting chilly!  can't wait to get it in the mail! xoxo
