Vintage Charlotte Holiday Market

this year's Vintage Charlotte Holiday Market was a huge success!  Vintage Charlotte is a pop-up market at the Fillmore with more than 50 handpicked vendors specializing in handmade and vintage goods.  there were more than 2000 visitors this year and my Kitsch and Fancy booth was basically slammed from the time we opened at 10!  thank god for my little assistant Irene or I woulda been in the weeds!  she definitely took charge and helped me manage the craziness.  we didn't even get to eat our breakfast biscuits!  this year's market was soooooooo fun, I can't wait to participate in the next one.  I will definitely be better prepared next time for the insanity, but was happy for the success we had anyway.

Holiday Decorating

I've been so busy lately with work, Etsy stuff, getting ready for craft shows, Sushi's vet visits, etc. that I didn't even notice that it was already almost mid-December and I hadn't done any holiday decorating yet!  First, I recycled the adorable holiday bunting I got from Etsy by draping it along the walls like so....

Lit my favorite Volcano candle, the mercury glass is perfect for holiday décor and put on some Christmas shows like I Love Lucy's Christmas episode, Tales from the Crypt, and Ren & Stimpy's Yaksmis Episode while decorating the little tree.

 

 

 

I replace my faux flowers throughout the apartment with more festive floral arrangements.

home: a new dresser

my sister has been spending a lot of time decorating her new apartment in Chapel Hill by hunting down finds on Craigslist.  i am normally pretty lazy when it comes to shopping, but i do love finding a good vintage find.  i have been on the hunt for a cool, small dresser for our bedroom.  browsing through Craigslist i found this one at a local vintage store. the print is one from Etsy that reminds me every day what we are working towards.

 

the store is in Indian Trail and features modern mid-century furniture.  can't wait to go on a Saturday and browse.  the drawers are a bit small, but i like petite furniture and it fits all of matt's clothes fine.  now the we re-signed the lease another year here at the apartment i will probably start purchasing more art and decor to create a more "permanence" in our space.

 

decor hint:  use your pretty baubles like these necklaces here almost as decor or pops of color on your walls.  especially when you're living in a tight space like our small apartment.  so busy with wedding planning......decided that when we get back from wedding and honeymoon stuff we will save for a down payment on a house.  it is time!

moving on up!  got a sectional sofa from my bff shaughn.  he was sad to get rid of it, but just got a job with Calvin Klein in NYC (eek!) so obviously can't take it with him.... so i got it for a great deal.  would love to get it recovered, but it actually fits in well with my modern mid-century decor.  i will probably get a few more printed pillows and have my eye on a faux zebra print rug.

 

finally found the perfect lamps for my shades.  i've been on the hunt for a couple of matching vintage lamps that would fit my lampshades for a couple years now.  of course i found them at Sleepy Poet, my favorite vintage store!

 a golden cherub with amber crystal drops.  matt thinks they're so ugly.  of course i love them because they're so unique.  sometimes it's worth waiting til you find the perfect thing!

sleepy poet is my go-to place to browse for hours!  and everyone that knows me, knows that i am a lazy shopper, but i love spending time looking through all the knick knacks, furniture, and vintage dinnerware at sleepy poet.

the beginnings of the studio space

spent all day yesterday with matt rearranging the studio space for my transition of spending more time working at home.  we talked about how nice it would be to have a separate space that would be my "work" area where i could close the doors (no kitties!) and shut out the distractions and focus on work.  since our apartment is relatively small i'm sharing my space with matt's music equipment/ studio and it will double as a spare guestroom as well.  we keep our other nicer tv in this room and took it out of the bedroom (no more tv in bed!) so  overnight guests can be comfortable and have a tv too!

the best thing about this space is the natural sunlight!  i can also listen surround sound music on matt's speakers while working.  still have some work to do, but it's coming together well so far.

welcome to Charleston

back from our wonderful trip to Charleston!  we stayed at the Ansonborough Inn, located in historic downtown Charleston.  like i said before, Charleston is well-known for it's southern charm and gorgeous historic buildings, and the Ansonborough Inn is no different.  it was a warehouse in the early 1900s and converted into a hotel in 1999.  we loved it, and will be back for our next Charleston visit.

normally when i pack i just throw some random crap into a bag on my way out the door.  i've always been a lazy packer!

but Charleston is different...a southern gem (it's been called!).  it evokes a sweet southern charm and ladies who lunch.  so i wanted to make sure that i brought plenty of wedges and skirts for our mini day trip.

had so much fun packing that i had to share it with y'all.  i've been trapped behind the scenes at the juice bar without a need to look cute or feminine in any way so i forgot how fun it is to actually dress up like a girl.  gotta get going-- my friends are throwing me a small get-together cinco   de mayo birthday bash tonight!
